Denmark Historical Society

Historical Society Resources
The Denmark Historical Society has a number of valuable resources available to researchers and the public.
Among the archival material:
  • 5,000 objects/artefacts
  • over 3,000 images in the photographic collection
  • over 250 oral histories
  • information on Group Settlements
  • some information on Births, Deaths and Marriages including Obituaries and people profiles
  • cemetery records
  • Our collection of artifacts; industrial, occupational, educational, domestic and recreational includes items from the late 1800's through to more recent times. Likewise the collection of photographs includes images from 1895 through to events in the current day.
Over the life of the Society oral histories have been recorded - these feature people from various eras and ages. Recorded observations exist of the timber period, early settlement, group settlement, dairying and fruit growing as well as the more recent development of wineries Original tapes have been converted to digital format and a written transcript is also available. Members have also indexed the transcripts to provide a more detailed record of what is on each tape.
The quarterly journal, Koorabup, has also been indexed and provides a collection of articles and features as well as images pertaining to the history of the Shire.
